Philosophy
A Typical Day 9-9:15 Quiet reading or yoga/stretching led by a learning manager or older student. 9:15-10:00 Math Focus. Students work on their math studies through workbooks, drills, and other resources. 10:00-10:30 Break for snack and movement. 10:30-11:15 English Focus. Grammar, spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing. Regular book discussions and written assignments. 11:15-noon Social Studies Focus. Skill-building in geography and cultural/historical concepts; exploration of topics including ancient civilizations, religions, inventions, and government structure. Noon-1 p.m. Lunch/recess. An hour spent at a newly refurbished playground or indoors playing games and making crafts. 1:00-2:00 Science Focus. Scientific concepts and the scientific method through discussion, multimedia presentation, experiments, and individual projects. 2:00-2:45 Spanish conversation. Group learning with focus on dialog, vocabulary, and developing conversational confidence. 2:45-3:30 Fine Art or Music Theory or Movement Education. 3:30 Dismissal. Optional after-school programming. |
